Fisching on the Mur river

Just a stone’s throw from the hotels of Projekt Spielberg the Mur river meanders its way through Slovenia and Croatia all the way to Hungary. Passing wetlands, forests, shoreline vegetation and romantic sand banks it provides a magnificent area for passionate anglers and fly fishing. It’s a veritable El Dorado for all guests who are looking to fish in harmony with nature and value the Danube salmon native to this region.

Apart from Danube salmon this region between St. Peter ob Judenburg and Knittelfeld is also home to trout and grayling, among others. The two experts Hans Ljubic and Michael Themel know their behaviour, know where to find them in every weather and are excellent teachers, also for beginners.

On top of that he knows this waterway which is known all over Europe for its diversity and richness of species like the back of his hand.

The Projekt Spielberg hotels offer both fly fishing and classic fishing adventures. Equipment can be rented and following an introductory course for beginners nothing stands in the way of a day out in nature.

Fishing at the river “Mur” is only allowed with a trained guide. Also the "catch and release" rule applies.
